About LanieJane

I am Lanie from the Lanie Jane Fabric Co. Ever since I was a little girl growing up in Salt Lake City, Utah I have been interested in sewing. My mother and grandmothers were all very good at teaching sewing. In high school and college I took all of the sewing classes I could. When I was married and had children I took a special interest in sewing for my kids. My sister, teaches many girls to sew at The Finishing School in Salt Lake City. She has encouraged me through the years to also teach. I have done off and on throughout my married life. Now that I have two married daughters, they have a Lanie Jane at the Finishing School in Cedar Hills, Utah. I help them at times by teaching and making projects for the girls to make. These experiences have been very rewarding. However, nothing is as rewarding as seeing my little granddaughters take an interest sewing . . . EXTRA FUN!!

After my husband passed away from cancer in 1997, I jumped into as many sewing classes as I could manage. This was very helpful to me as I went through the stages of mourning. Also, this is when my love for quilts began.

I am now married to a wonderful man who also lost his first wife to cancer. We are old friends, we knew each other’s families’ years ago. We are happily married in Highland, Utah with 11 children and 25 grandchildren. What could be better?

As a side note; I also love gardening. I love flowers and plants and trees and vegetables and fruits. It is hard work, but I find it great therapy just like sewing.
